GRL’s Korea Lab Approved as HDMI® Authorized Test Center

Official certification testing for HDMI 1.4b and HDMI 2.1b products in the heart of Korea’s high-tech industrial zone.

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test automation solutions for digital connectivity, charging technologies, and professional market access services, has announced that its facility in Incheon, Korea has been approved by the HDMI Forum as an HDMI Forum Authorized Testing Center (ATC) for HDMI 2.1b testing services. Additionally, GRL Korea will host a new HDMI ATC for HDMI 1.4b testing services on behalf of Royal Philips N.V. (Philips) in continuation of the companies’ long-term partnership.

GRL's new Korea HDMI ATCs provide comprehensive HDMI 1.4b and HDMI 2.1b pre-compliance and compliance testing and debugging support for Sinks, Sources, and Repeaters, as well as High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) certification testing services, to help HDMI Adopters bring new products to market faster. The Korea ATCs join GRL's existing HDMI ATCs in Taipei, Dongguan, and Shanghai.

HDMI 1.4b and HDMI 2.1b were developed in response to the growing demand for high-definition audiovisual applications. The latest HDMI 2.1b specification, released in 2023, offers advanced features such as higher resolutions up to 10K and refresh rates including 8K60 and 4K120, dynamic HDR support, and enhanced gaming capabilities, improving the audiovisual experience for consumers worldwide.

"GRL has provided HDMI compliance testing services for over 13 years and we are glad to support the HDMI ecosystem with our new ATCs in Korea," said Holger Kunz, GRL's President of Worldwide Services. "We offer a complete suite of HDMI product testing, with responsive service and deep technical support for HDMI Adopters and will continue to support strong HDMI adoption worldwide.”

"GRL's contributions to the development and support of HDMI testing programs are highly appreciated, and we are pleased to welcome GRL's Korean Lab as an HDMI Forum ATC," said Rob Tobias, CEO and president of HDMI Licensing Administrator (HDMI LA). "HDMI LA is committed to maintaining and advancing the HDMI Specification by promoting product compatibility and reliability through strict testing and certification processes."
