Description

GRL-USB-PD-C2 (GRL-C2) is the only solution available that supports all compliance test specifications for USB Power Delivery 3.0 and USB Type-C Alternate Mode designs, and enables product developers to quickly run full compliance and validation test suites at the push of a button.

GRL-C2 provides an automated, efficient, and fully-integrated way to perform all required USB Power Delivery version 3.0 and 2.0 and related tests over the USB Type-C connector, as well as PHY test automation for USB Type-C Alternate Modes.

GRL-C2 automates all required USB PD compliance tests for power providers (chargers), consumers, dual-role ports, and cable and adapter E-Markers; and is the only solution available that integrates Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ and Intel Thunderbolt-specific test items. GRL-C2 also incorporates analyzer capability to sniff PD traffic.

GRL-C2 integrates all required USB PD tests into a single 2-port tester, including all tests supported on GRL’s USB-IF approved first generation solution introduced in 2015. Each port can be configured independently as a PD Provider or Consumer. All other PD Protocol and Power tests are fully integrated, removing the need for external electronic loads.

GRL Special (GRL-SPL) Type-C VCONN Passthrough test cable, used for connecting UUT to GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller. This is a full feature cable with all Type-C lines connected in between both ends of the cable.

 

GRL-USB-PD-DPC - GRL DPC PHY Tx Automation Test Board

GRL DPC PHY Tx Automation Test Board, which comprises the following:

  • GRL-C2-EXT1 DisplayPort Fixture, LFPS - EXT1 extension fixture for GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller, used to:
    • Test DisplayPort Alt Mode over Type-C.
    • Control Low Frequency Periodic Signaling (LFPS) sequences in USB 3.0 system.
  • Support for DP PHY automation using GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller.

GRL-USB-PD-FRS - GRL Fast Role Swap (FRSWAP) Board

GRL Fast Role Swap (FRSWAP) Board, which comprises the following:


  • GRL-C2-FRSWAP AUTO Box Board - Fixture for GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller, used to automate Fast Role Swap based testing. Connects to DUT to remove External AC power from DUT.
  • GRL-C2-EXT5 Extension Board - EXT5 extension fixture for GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller, used to:
    • Control inputs/outputs from C2.
    • Provide signal triggering for FRSWAP, GRL-USB-PD-SHT extension fixture and other peripherals.
  • FR-SWAP-CAB - FRSWAP test cable, used for connecting GRL-C2-EXT5 extension board with GRL-C2-FR-SWAP-AUTO fixture.

    • Provide signal triggering for FRSWAP and other peripherals.
  • GRL-USB-PD-SHT2 - Extension fixture for GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller, used to connect to Port 1 and Port 2 of GRL-USB-PD-C2 test controller to perform external short circuit for VBUS and VCONN to ground using control signals from GRL-C2-EXT5 extension board.
