Showcased at this year’s Qi2 Plugfest in China, GRL’s Qi 2.2 wireless charging solution once again received positive reviews for its technical precision and user-friendliness.
Granite River Labs (“GRL”), a global leader in engineering services, automated test solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, showcased the latest GRL Qi2 Wireless Charging Transmitter (GRL-C3-MP-TPR) and Receiver Tester (GRL-C3-TPT) at the 2025 Wireless Charging Technology Seminar. This year’s event was held at the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel in collaboration with AVNET and Digitimes. In light of the latest mobile phones adopting Qi 2.2 specification, industry experts came together to analyze the latest trends and procedures in wireless charging.
In-vehicle wireless charging is expected to proliferate with Qi 2.2’s ground-breaking moving coil technology. Supported by the Application Power Profile (APP), Qi 2.2 increases wireless power delivery from the previous 15W to a new high of 25W.
GRL’s Qi 2.2 wireless charging compliance solutions were approved by WPC shortly after the v2.2 standard was announced in June 2025, making it the first-ever WPC-approved test platform. Prior to this event, GRL-C3-MP-TPR and TPT were showcased on the Qi2 Plugfest tour across Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Hong Kong. Attendees tried the solution under a wide range of test environments, including R&D and production lines. Responses overwhelmingly highlighted the solution’s intuitive design and compatible, plug-and-play design with existing validation workflows.
One month after GRL’s momentous Qi 2.2 solution approval, GRL Japan was authorized by WPC to conduct Qi v2.2.0 and v2.2.1 certification testing for consumer and automotive applications. The firm’s Korea and Taipei labs quickly followed suit in August and October respectively, bringing Qi compliance testing closer to even more OEMs across East Asia.
AVNET Senior Product Manager Andy Yang noted, “GRL is one of our key partners for WPC Qi solutions. We are confident of providing localized WPC Qi compliance testing and debugging services in Taiwan through the WPC-approved GRL-C3-MPP Qi 2.2 test system.”
GRL President of Worldwide Solutions Evan Sun further stated, “As wireless charging becomes an established norm among consumer and automotive applications, GRL looks forward to easing the compliance journey for OEMs worldwide with expanding presence across East Asia and America.”
