Expanding GRL’s Global Qi Certification Capabilities with Qi 2.2.1 Testing up to 25W for both Tx & Rx in Korea
Granite River Labs (“GRL”), a global leader in test and certification services and automated test solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, and professional market access services, proudly announces that its Korean branch has been approved by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) as an Authorized Test Lab (ATL) for Qi certification.
GRL Korea now joins GRL’s global Qi ATL network alongside Santa Clara, Taipei, and Shin Yokohama, with full authorization to provide certification testing for Base Power Profile (BPP), Extended Power Profile (EPP), and Magnetic Power Profile (MPP). As the first Qi ATL in Korea to support both transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) testing up to 25W, GRL is expanding its ability to provide comprehensive wireless charging certification services. This is particularly beneficial for manufacturers in the high-growth Asia-Pacific region.
With the rapid growth of wireless charging technologies worldwide, and increasing innovation in Korea’s mobile, automotive, and smart device industries, GRL Korea’s accreditation as a Qi ATL addresses growing regional demand for efficient certification services. This milestone strengthens GRL’s global Qi certification capabilities and enables developers and manufacturers—including those of smartphones, in-vehicle chargers, and wearables—to streamline their certification process locally in Korea while accelerating global time-to-market.
The Qi wireless charging standard, developed and maintained by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), continues to evolve to support growing power requirements and improve user experience. The Qi standard supports supports up to 5W (BPP), 15W (EPP), and 25W (MPP), with certified products meeting global standards for safety, interoperability, and energy efficiency. GRL plays an active role in WPC working groups and test tool development, enabling it to stay ahead of compliance requirements and deliver industry-leading services.
"This approval marks a significant milestone for the wireless charging ecosystem in Korea and the broader region," said JeeWoong Moon, General Manager of GRL Korea and Vice President for Regional Large Accounts. “We are committed to strengthening our ATL capabilities to support a wide range of product developments, including Qi 2.2.1 certification up to 25W, in-vehicle chargers, high-power devices for global markets, and smartwatches. Our goal is to deliver the technical expertise and operational speed needed to help customers across Asia and beyond stay ahead in the rapidly evolving wireless charging landscape.”
