GRL extends capability of flagship Qi BST tester with v1.3.3 Extended Power Profile approval from WPC

Development will help developers overcome unique design and test challenges in one of the technology industry’s fastest-growing sectors.

Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in test and certification services and automated test solutions for digital connectivity and charging technologies, has extended the coverage and capability of the industry-leading C3 Qi BST Tester following its approval by Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) as an official compliance tool for the Qi Extended Power Profile (EPP) v1.3.3 specification.

This development will help developers to tackle unique design and test challenges and capture a larger share of a fast-growing market that a recent Forbes story predicts will top the US$200 billion mark within 10 years.

The GRL-C3 was designed to simplify wireless charging compliance for devices supporting all Baseline Power Profile (BPP) tests to Qi specification v1.2.4 and v1.3.3 for BPP, Extended Power Profile (EPP), and Qi authentication.

The newly approved GRL-C3 1.3.3 automates all tests required for Qi Base Station compliance and provides increased flexibility by accommodating proprietary varieties of Qi wireless charging. This enables product developers to quickly run full compliance and validation test suites at the push of a button, making it ideal for Qi-related R&D and compliance testing.

"The new GRL-C3 EPP tester is a great addition to the Wireless Power Consortium ecosystem and provides the industry with another reliable option for Qi-Wireless Charging Compliance Testing,” said Paul Stuhasker, Executive Director of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). “We are pleased to have worked diligently with GRL to finalize this product’s readiness and confirm its full compliance to WPC specifications.”

“GRL is pleased to play an important part in unlocking the potential and supporting the growth of the Qi ecosystem by expanding our Wireless Charging Testing Products Portfolio and releasing this new, WPC-approved compliance tester for v.1.3.3 EPP,” said Vamshi Kandalla, GRL’s Chief Strategy Officer. “The GRL-C3 leverages GRL’s expertise in wired and wireless charging to provide a full-featured, integrated solution that allows for seamless development and release of customer projects through the product development and release life cycle, without expensive schedule or cost overruns.”
