The USB-PD is a universal standard that enables devices using USB-C to be fast charged by delivering increased power to devices with greater power demands. GRL’s V-DPWR Dual Role Power Tester addresses the needs of test engineers with demanding test requirements for their USB Type-C®/PD hosts and devices - an ideal solution for testing in reliability and environmental chambers as well as high volume production. The V-DPWR is capable of supplying and loading power from a single 100W USB-C port and 7.5W per port for VCONN power loading. Furthermore, it supports data loopback functionality in Device Mode for USB 2.0 and USB 3.2 up to 5Gbps. This allows the user to simultaneously exercise USB PD Power and Data while test stressing the device.
With V-DPWR's powerful interface software, along with an open API for power users to interface with their own internal systems, users can use their own software written using C#, NI Test Stand, and Python, for customized control. V-DPWR can thus be easily integrated into existing workflows. Testing only takes a few seconds per test case and can remain in continuous operation indefinitely for long test cycles.
