State-of-the-art India facility adds official USB certification testing to wide range of services
Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test solutions for high speed connectivity, is pleased to announce that its Bangalore lab has been authorized by the USB-IF to provide official certification testing services, becoming the first and only lab in India positioned to help adopters obtain the USB logo.
Since opening its Bangalore test lab and R&D center in 2013, GRL has supported a wide range of electronics companies in India – from multinationals to local firms – with testing and troubleshooting of USB and other high speed interfaces such as DisplayPort, PCI Express, and DDR. GRL operates the GRL-Philips HDMI Authorized Test Center, also the only such facility in India.
“India is a not only a key region for USB developers, it is also one of the fastest growing markets for products with USB,” said Johnson Tan, GRL co-Founder and CEO. “GRL is proud to support the rapid growth and adoption of USB in India, enabling the ‘Make in India’ initiative and lighting the way for new technologies such as USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery.”
Local industry leaders have expressed their excitement about GRL India’s approval as a USB certification lab:
“IESA is in the forefront of supporting all initiatives of the electronics system design & manufacturing (ESDM) industry to grow the electronics and semiconductor products and IP’s developed and made in India. Having a certification lab is a key component of the ecosystem. GRL’s approval as India’s first Authorized Test Center will support ESDM industry growth in India. IESA welcomes GRL’s initiatives and contribution to strengthen India’s ESDM ecosystem and foster innovation in the test and measurement space.”
– K. Krishna Moorthy, Corporate Vice President & Managing Director, India Design Center, Rambus and Chairman, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA)
“Compliance certification is an important milestone in the product development cycle, and easy access to an ATC can help to accomplish this goal much sooner. We appreciate that GRL has extended its official USB ATC network to India. With the state-of-the-art facility and experienced staff, we expect that GRL India will be able to help its customers be successful.”
– Rajkumar Chandrasekhar, Engineering Group Director, Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd.
“GRL’s approval by the USB-IF as the first official Independent Test Lab in India will help accelerate USB deployment in the region. GRL’s high speed test services and automation solution portfolio, experienced staff and top of the line lab facility will help its customers meet critical design and time-to-market goals. GRL has an excellent reputation for supporting early specifications, and we expect their expertise will be a valuable resource for the entire semiconductor product market in India.”
– Madan Babu Shastri, Director, System Engineering, Nvidia Graphics Pvt. Ltd.
“We are aggressively pursuing ‘Make in India’ on a mission to make India a major manufacturing hub of electronics and semiconductor products. Having authorized test labs in India for high speed interfaces such as USB will certainly help to shorten the time to market. We welcome GRL’s initiative on this as this helps in developing and enriching the ecosystem.”
