Regional OEMs and manufacturers can now test for Qi wireless charging for up to 25W closer to home.
Granite River Labs (GRL), a global leader in engineering services and test automation solutions for digital connectivity, charging technologies, and professional market access services, has received official approval from the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) to conduct Qi v2.2.1 transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) testing at its Taipei lab. This announcement comes just months after GRL achieved a similar breakthrough in Japan, reaffirming the lab’s commitment to advancing wireless charging in both consumer and automotive applications.
Powered by magnetic alignment for optimal coil positioning, Qi 2.2.1 marked a significant milestone for wireless charging by increasing power delivery capacity from 15W to 25W. GRL’s Tx (GRL-C3-MP-TPR and GRL-WP-TPR-C3) and Rx (GRL-C3-MP-TPT) solutions were also the first to be approved by WPC for certification testing of the same standard.
“We welcome smartphone manufacturers, automotive OEMs and accessory brands from Taipei and beyond to test with us,” said Arvin Ho, Wireless Business Development Director of GRL Taiwan. “Through dedicated expertise, we hope to encourage the proliferation of safer, more convenient, and environmentally-friendly wireless charging products worldwide.”
