Granite River Labs (“GRL”), a global leader in test and certification services and automated test solutions for digital connectivity, charging technologies, and professional market access services, is proud to announce that Apple recognizes GRL Germany as an MFi Authorized Test Lab (ATL) for certification testing, pre-testing, and advisory services for selected HomeKit and MFi Hearing Aid devices.

This addition extends GRL’s far-reaching global network that spans the US, China in Dongguan and Shanghai, and now Karlsruhe in Germany. By extension, customers can now efficiently receive localized support for their specific test and certification needs.

The MFi Program encompasses a wide array of wired and wireless third-party hardware accessories that interoperate reliably with Apple’s mobile devices. By testing and certifying these devices, manufacturers can offer quality assurance to customers in an increasingly digital world, where networks play increasingly vital roles at home, in the office, or even on-the-go.

When conducting tests under the MFi program, GRL engineers will guide applicants through the testing process, using test case examples and making references to specific specifications to smoothen the licensing process. Consumers will also gain a deeper perspective into how their new Apple accessories can work within the broader Apple ecosystem.

In addition to auditing the MFi test requirements, GRL Germany can also combine professionally conducted safety and regulatory standard verification services under one roof, such as the open-source standard for IoT and smart home products, Matter. The additional regulatory testing that GRL can provide enables smart home manufacturers to work across ecosystems while maintaining the highest levels of security. As a member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), Apple contributes towards maintaining the Matter standard alongside other industry leaders.

“We remain committed to helping manufacturers keep up with demand for enhanced connectivity and convenience, which will undoubtedly grow as our world becomes more digitally integrated,” said GRL Co-Founder & CEO Johnson Tan. “With established affiliations, facilities, and highly-skilled teams, we’re confident of being the partner that manufacturers can rely on as they navigate the new connectivity landscape.”
